Here it is, Richard Salzman’s invite for you to the 17th ANNUAL COMMUNITY GATHERING AT PAMPLIN GROVE!
“Look, ART! See the Beautiful trees…”
That’s how our lede would ordinarily follow the stunning graphic in these self consciously crafted invitations to Richard’s annual community gathering at Pamplin Grove.
These aren’t ordinary times.
Truth is we have been asking you to pencil in the date for Richard’s 17 annual community gathering at Pamplin Grove for years. The 16th annual get together was three summers back, and that one was gangbusters. Our singalong raised the roof off that fine old-growth cathedral canopy. That was then. This is now. Between? Years of you know what.
So let’s center this, uplift this point, unpack it, hold space for it, dig it a little deeper and maybe develop a couple of smart goals in dialogue with all of you and the gods of Covid as well.
We are not taking chances. We’re not crazy. We want us all to be safe. We are gonna take every precaution. Its outdoors, we will wash a lot and EVERYONE, age five and up must be fully vaxed. Masks? Bring one, but they're gonna be optional. If its not safe, we’ll call it off. Till then… it’s on! July 5, 6 and 7! This invite rides on hope. It speaks with art. It speaks with heart. It’s about community.
JULY 5, 6 and 7 Music all the days.
Camp all three nights if you like. But don’t miss the Potluck feast on Wednesday July 6! Bask by campfires every night with song and story. There’s hiking, swimming, birdwatching, even otter watching. Bring everyone and that sweet tempered dog.
We can get in the gate to the Grove Tuesday noon. Do RSVP to get the all new secret code. We gotta be gone Friday Noon, but every minute of joy in between, we deserve.
Trees. Ok, we got a little glib back there in the lede. There really are remarkable groves of magical giants. Take some beauty home in your heart.
Who knows when one and all will be able to celebrate again?
