These annual gatherings have no political agenda, lectures or workshops; it is however, my belief that events such as this do strengthen the fabric of our community and allow for the exchange of ideas as to how we can better our lives, ...though my primary objective here is to simply create an environment that allows for the utter enjoyment of all who attend!
Friends, family, neighbors and well-behaved dogs are all welcome, and the only requirement is that you RSVP in advance with a head-count, and bring something for the potluck dinner served in the early evening of the second of the three days. This Pamplin Grove tradition started in 2004 to celebrate the 61% to 49% landslide defeat of an attempt, funded by Charles Hurwitz’s Maxxam Corporation, to recall our then newly elected District Attorney Paul Gallegos. Our community came together to stand up for “Justice For All,” and after the election we rented Pamplin Grove to hold a community celebration of that political victory. Since then I have taken it upon myself to make this an annual community gathering. If you are NOT on my "richardslist" email listserve, please use the contact page to request to be added so that you'll get the formal invite this summer in advance of the event, as well as a notice every January telling you the weekend for the following summer's event. --Richard Salzman (Host and lead organizer of this Annual Community Gathering and Cookout at Pamplin Grove) Photos from past years : richardsalzman.blogspot.com |
