“Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks. Rage. Blow!”
Thus railed King Lear against the long storm of the unjust universe as his madness crept in.
It’s been that kind of winter. One to remember. But don’t go mad. Plan a party. We have one for you, you'll never forget, Richard's annual community gathering at Pamplin Grove. It happens one month later than usual: August, 14, 15 & 16. Spring is finally in song now, birds are in tune too. I whisper this tenderly lest I incur the storm goddess’ wrath, lest she shake the ground again, thundering another blackout. Her drenching replenishes California. Abundant water bodes well for our August swimming hole on the Van Duzen as well. It’s going to take a long, warm soak and a serious song and dance to coax off the chill of this winter. Since the dawn of time ‘festival’ has meant diverse people gathering, cross pollenating, creating new ideas, new cultural directions and sometimes new humans. Richard’s annual community gathering and cookout is festive. Come party Humboldt in the hot summer sun on the banks of the Van Duzen River three glorious days. August, 14, 15 & 16! (Yeah Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) Stay one night or camp for all three nights, maybe just cruise in for the potluck dinner on Tuesday, August 15. Music, sunshine, volleyball, horseshoes, swimming and bonfire sing-alongs are all included. We first gathered almost twenty years ago. Bring good people together, good things happen. There will be music in the air and yes, magic in the trees. It’s a tradition you may recall. With respect we request that you RSVP if you plan to attend:
