COME JOIN OLD FRIENDS IN THE OLD GROWTH, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2008.
Redwoods grow more spectacular and majestic with each passing year. The rest of us, uh, not so much.
So as Richard Salzman approaches the ripe old age of 50 this November, he needs all the help he can get to keep his limbs from drooping and his brain from gathering moss. So why not come show your support for the soon-to-be old fart at his 5th annual gathering in Pamplin Grove, Humboldt County, CA on Saturday, September 13 (and Sunday the 14th).
In lieu of birthday gifts, you’re welcome to bring cakes, pies and other low-cholesterol goodies to the traditional giant potluck dinner served late Saturday afternoon. (Gates open at 11am.) Then, as if 50 burning candles aren’t enough, we’ll have a roaring bonfire to keep everyone warm throughout the evening.
Folks who hate to drive after dark (like Richard) can camp at the park or retire at a nearby hotel. Then join us for a hearty, high-fiber breakfast in the morning. Out-of-town guests who need help with transportation, accommodations and loaner camping gear, should contact Richard before he gets any older.
Friends, family and well-behaved dogs are welcome. So don’t miss this year’s gathering of old friends in the old growth. It’ll be an unforgettable event for all. Except maybe Richard.
